pre-emptive convalescence

I spent today in pre-emptive convalescence. That is, I recovered from a cold I hadn’t caught yet.

I came out the other end of Seedcamp so excited about everything that I worked straight through the weekend and 12-hour days Monday and Tuesday. Then yesterday evening, after the Girly Geek Dinner (I had a lovely chat there with Walid of TrustedPlaces, who told me to take a holiday…) I crawled home knowing that if I didn’t spend a day at home soon I’d be sneezing and miserable within 48 hours. You know sometimes you can just tell?

It’s hard to slow down when you’re a bit of a Lisa Simpson about overdelivering, and a chronic multitasker to boot. But sometimes you have to. So I read the paper, ate salad, followed up on all the lovely people I’ve met recently and had an afternoon nap (during which, I have to admit, I dreamed about PR campaigns).
Now I’m having a Meatloaf moment and collating user feedback (School of Everything, where did my life go?) but I’m ready to face the world again. So all you overworked people, I recommend it: spend a day in bed before you’re too ill to enjoy it.
