what do i want to learn?

It’s odd, but over two years at School of Everything, asking other people what they wanted to learn, I never took much time to ask the question very deeply of myself. But now that I’m no longer an active part of Team Everything, the question is suddenly very pressing. So I’ve been spending lots of time over the last few weeks with Sally Northmore and Sophie McDonald, talking about just this.
For Sally and Sophie, the answers are different. But for me, it’s this: how to tell stories using the Web. Though ARGs get pretty close, I don’t think anyone has cracked this yet. I’m going to.
But there’s lots of stuff I could do with learning first. Same goes for the others. We reckon we’re not the only ones. So over the next few months we’re going to be organising lots of teaching and learning, for the kinds of techie skills that you can’t easily find courses in. Sessions will be informal, and aimed at arty rather than tech-y or business-y goals. Think Dorkbot meets the Free U and you’ve got the general idea. Also, it’s mostly for GURLS, because there aren’t enough GURLS in the tech and media art worlds. But not all for GURLS. Just mostly.
There’ll be a site, and more blurb, and schedules, and meetups and so on very soon. I’m very excited. Meanwhile if that sounds interesting and you want to know more, drop me a line.
